This wonderful news comes to us from India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was quick to laud a 16-year-old boy Priyavrata Patil for becoming the youngest person to pass the Mahapariksha exams. The Prime Minister tweeted, “Excellent! Congratulations to Priyavrata for this feat. His achievement will continue to be a source of inspiration for many”.
The original tweet was posted by a person named Chamu Krishna Shastry who tweeted, “History was created yesterday by 16-year-old Priyavrata, son of SmtAparna and Sri DevduttaPatil. While studying Veda and Nyaya from his father, he studied all the VyakaranaMahaGranthas from Sri Mohana Sharma and passed 14 levels of TenaliPariksha, youngest to pass the Mahapariksha.”
The Tenali Exams are a unique institution that operates as an open university. Students live with their Gurus in various part of the country and learn according to the GrihaGurukula system. Twice every year the Gurus and the Students come to Tenali for the written and oral semester exams. After 5 or 6 years have passed studying under this system, the students take the Mahapariksha under the supervision of Kanchi Mutt. If they clear this test, they will get due recognition.
The last 40 years have seen Tenali Exams becoming the prime institution in the field of studying the Shastras.
16-year-old PriyavrataDevaduttaPatil who was studying Vedas and Nyaya from his father also managed to study all VykaranaMahaGranthas from Sri Mohana Sharma. He has of now cleared all the 14 levels and is the youngest person in history to have cleared the Mahapariksha.
This feat is no mean feat and deserves to be heartily congratulated. Studies in Shastra are known to be notoriously difficult as they require an ample amount of logic and reasoning power. All the best to PriyavrataPatil and best wishes for the future.
