10-year-old girl from Brazil requested PM Modi to accept her savings as Covid donations

The corona outbreak and lockdown all around the nation is severely impacting the revenue and PM Modi along with the state government are requesting people for monetary help. Many celebrities as well as commoners have come up with huge sum of donations and it feels great to see people standing united to fight the pandemic.

We are hearing heroic stories of people aged 80 plus and also little children coming up with their share of donations and to add to this list there’s this little 10 year old girl from Brazil. Belonging to Karnataka’s Raichur city, this girl namely Lahari Rangarao Desai lives with her parents in Curitiba, Paraná in Brazil. Lahari has been following Indian news and when she heard the PM requesting people to offer monetary help she insisted on donating money to PM-Cares fund.

Studying in grade four, Lahari was in favour of donating her own money and she made up her mind to use her Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana account fund in order to help the Indian government. Her father has been maintaining her account following the Sukanya Samriddhi Scheme (SSS). Lahari is aware of this account.

This deposit scheme was framed keeping in mind the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao campaign thus making deposits possible till the girl attains the age of 21. It also has a withdrawal clause that allows any withdrawal upto 50% for educational support when the girl turns 18. Lahari is also aware of this condition and she knew that this clause doesn’t allow her to donate any sum from her account.

She thus requested the PM to relax the conditions attached to this scheme and withdraw the entire sum in her account in order to use it for the betterment of the country during this trying times. Lahari said, “There is INR 5000 available in it. With this I want to do my small bit for India, in its fight against Covid 19.”

She shared a video message wherein she is seen requesting the PM to withdraw the amount from her SSS account and sent out a powerful message for all the fathers out there. “My father puts money in my account for my future. I feel my future is secured with you as the Prime Minister. Bharat Mata Ki Jai”, quoted Lahari.
