68 year old Indian man traveling across India to promote organ donation

This inspiring news come to us from Visakhapatnam, India.

Organ donation is not a very big thing to do but even today people do not take a step forwards towards donating organs to people in need. To create awareness among people about organ donation, this man namely Pramod Mahajan a farmer by profession chose to travel all around India.

Riding a bike across several Indian states and cities, Mahajan himself donated his kidney back in 2000. Mahajan feels proud to have donated his kidney to an army jawan in a hospital in Mumbai. He also told that the army man became a father to 2 children after successful operation of kidney transplant and after around 13 years of marriage. Mahajan feels extremely happy to have saved the life of an ex army man and also being indirectly responsible for 2 new lives. But he is also disappointed to see that people really do not understand the importance of organ donation.

Being a part of Bharat Organ Yatra (BOY) – II, Mahajan who hails from Maharashtra’s Sangli district has set out on a solo bike ride from Pune. His journey began on January 18 this year and by February end he reached Visakhapatnam after covering 4000 kms and a total of eight states. He is planning to cover around 94 cities from a total of 25 states.

Till now he has convinced around 250 police men in Bhopal who pledged to donate their organs if they face brain death. Mahajan has also convinced around 600 students in Indore who agreed to fill up the form.

Mahajan is also promoting his bike tour and movement on social media to grab the attention of more and more people. He also claims that his tour has been featured in the Limca book of records.
